Dress shoes for the modern man

We live in a world where fast pace of our lives may make us go with the easiest decision to make. So, we just pick up black dress shoes as they go with almost all outfits one can imagine for an event that calls for dress shoes. But this does not change the fact that the shoes you choose tell a lot about who you are. It is worth investing a few different pairs of shoes to go with different outfits and occasions as this will reflect well on your personality.

Mens purple dress shoes have quickly become a go to option for an evening cocktail party. Pair it up with a pair of stonewashed jeans and have girls notice you as soon as you enter the party. Actually, they would work great with even the simplest of outfits, lifting your personal style to a completely new level. Don’t forget that purple is the color of royalty because of how rare it is in nature. Men’s purple dress shoes have the same aura.

Men’s orange dress shoes and men’s yellow dress shoes grab immediate attention because of the exotic nature of these colors. They are, obviously, inappropriate for formal meetings and any somber events. Many would frown upon you if you decide to wear them to even a semi-formal occasion. But they are perfect for parties – wear them to a wedding or a farewell party and see the complements flowing in.

You would have heard of the general rule that the color of the shoes should match the color of your trousers/ jeans. This piece of conventional wisdom will destroy the beauty of men’s orange dress shoes and men’s yellow dress shoes making them look gaudy. Though this can work for some lighter shades of the shoes – even then it would be better to have them in slightly different shade of the same family.

They would work better with black trousers or tux pants. Even better is to match your jacket’s color to them. Even here I would suggest going for complementing colors – a brown jacket with men’s yellow dress shoes for example. With bright, funky colors – the traditional idea of going for matching, or the more modern view of creating a contrast to make the shoes stand out – both fail. It is best to work with a family of single color and use different shades and tones for the most gorgeous look.

If you are one of those people who prefer the blue tuxedo over the classical black jacket – white shirt variation, you have to have royal blue dress shoes in your closet. This will complete your look, and make you stand out even in a very formal gathering where everybody else is wearing the uniform of black over white, with only variation being in the tie that they knot around their necks. Royal blue dress shoes will work equally well with a blue jeans for more casual occasions, and will fetch you multiple complements.

These are just some of the options you have while picking a pair of dress shoes for yourself. There are tons of design variations within the colors mentioned above. Then you also have got burgundy and oxblood to check out – which are widely popular in US. Let your shoes be part of your style statement, like everything else you put on.
